This herb is most often used in formulas to treat headaches or toothaches; also used to treat symptoms of upper-body congestion, sinus headache, and acute acne and itching (TCM: strong external wind-cold injury). Also used for its drying effects in treating symptoms of leukorrhea with white or pink vaginal discharge.

This herb is very drying and should be used carefully where there are sores that are already draining well, or where there is a Blood or Yin deficiency.
