Common Usages

This herb is used in formulas that promote eruption of the rash in measles and shorten the period of discomfort associated with the disease (TCM: internal heat; deficient-Yang Qi); also used to treat other symptoms similar to those associated with measles, including headache, fever, sore throat (TCM: exterior wind heat); and sores and ulcerations in the throat and mouth (TCM: Stomach fire poison).

Traditional Usages and Functions

Releases exterior and encourages the rash of measles to surface; raises Yang Qi; detoxifies fire poison affecting Stomach.
