Dried Shrimps, Beancurd & Corn Silks Soup

Chinese herbal soup recipe


This soup is fragrant with tasty meat. It eases indigestion, reduces water retention, expels heat and replenishes iodine and calcium. It is good for oedema, scrofula and goiter. It helps toprevent diabetes patients from having arteriosclerosis. It is also useful for children and old people suffering from calcium deficiency.

  1. This soup neutralizes the effect of a1coholic drinks and detoxifies the body.
  2. People who have skin diseases like scabies should not drink this soup.

27gdried shrimps 虾糠(细虾)
113gcorn silks 粟米须
3 piecesbeancurd 豆腐
8glaver 紫菜
2 tspsglutinous rice wine 黄酒(糯米酒)
2 tspslight soy sauce 酱油
a few dropsSesame oil 麻油
Salt 幼盐


  1. Cook corn silks in water for 20 minutes. Discard corn silks and keep the soup.
  2. Soak dried shrimps in wine in a soup pot until soft. Pour in water and cook for 5 minutes. Add blanched beancurd. Pour in the liquid of cooking corn silks from step 1. Add seasoning and bring to the boil. Sprinkle with torn lavar bits. Serve.
