Common Usages

Applied topically, this herb is used as an antiseptic and to reduce heat and swelling. Internally, it reduces swelling and helps with symptoms of pain associated with menstruation, early stages of carbuncles, sores, and swellings, and pain on the skin and in the mouth (TCM: congealed Blood pain}; also helps with trunk pain (TCM: due to congealed Blood), and spasm and rigidity (TCM: due to wind-damp obstruction).

Invigorates Blood and promotes circulation of Qi; relaxes sinews, activates channels, and alleviates pain; reduces swelling and promotes healing.
