This herb is used in formulas to treat headaches, eye problems such as itching, conjunctivitis and weak vision, and nervousness; also used to treat high blood pressure (TCM: due to Liver rising); and rib pain (TCM: due to constrained Liver Qi [stress])

Extinguishes wind, alleviates pain, and brightens the eyes; extinguishes exterior wind; facilitates smooth flow of Liver Qi.
