Mind and Body Wake Up
Wake up to a brand new day. What you do in the next five minutes can profoundly affect the whole day ahead. So start as you mean to go on.
- When you wake up don't leap out of bed - spend time becoming aware of your body. How does it feel?
- Stretch your body, slowly flexing your arms up over your head and pushing your feet to the end of the bed.
- Take your knees up to your chest and let them gently fall to one side of your body. Slowly turn your head and arms to face the opposite direction. You may find a few vertebrae crunch a little. Repeat on the other side.
- Sit on the edge of the bed. Very gently, lower your right ear towards your right shoulder, then your left ear to your left shoulder. Repeat five times.
- Now stand. Feel the strong, quiet power of the earth rising through your feet. Raise your arms and imagine the sun pouring in through the top of your head, filling you with confidence and optimism.
- Bring your arms to waist level and gently swing them from side to side, allowing your body to twist gently from the waist. Visualize yourself becoming flexible enough to deal with everything the day will bring.
- Bring your hands together, shut your eyes, and state your aim for the day. It could be something like, "I will bring vision, truth, and kindness to my working day." Choose your own but make it meaningful.
