Common Usages

This herb is used in formulas to treat cold and painful back and knees, impotence, insomnia, poor memory, kidney stones, leakage of sperm, and frequent urination; also used to treat weak coughs and wheezing (TCM: deficient Lungs and Kidneys); and constipation with overall weakened condition such as found in the elderly or following a feverish disease.

Traditional Usages and Functions

Tonifies Kidneys and strengthens back and knees; warms and holds in Lung Qi and helps Kidneys "grasp" Qi; moistens Intestines and moves stool.
